NATIONAL SOCCER NEWS: www.nationalsoccernetwork.com

Last week's results went a long way towards solidifying the standings for each division, with one week left in the regular season.

It's unclear exactly what the criteria will be for the four-team playoffs, but the top four teams in the league-wide standings are:

1. Gulf Coast United. 15 pts, +32 GD

2. Central Louisiana. 15 pts, +15 GD

3. BRSC Capitals. 12 pts, +14 GD

4. LSFC Phoenix. 12 pts, +8 GD

So, the primary remaining drama comes from the Bayou division, where the Capitals and the Phoenix are tied on points. It's almost certain that those four teams will be the ones in the playoffs, with a very remote chance that the Mississippi Blues could sneak in over the Phoenix. That would require them to beat Gulf Coast United, which looks highly unlikely at this point. The most likely outcome is that all four top teams will win, collecting three more points, and that the Capitals will stay ahead of the Phoenix. The two teams split their series, but BRSC holds the advantage in almost every metric.

Last Week’s Results:

Hattiesburg 0-9 Gulf Coast United

Trey Roche had a hat trick.

Twin Cities 1-6 Central Louisiana

Tony Rivas had a hat trick.

Phoenix 5-0 SW Louisiana

Ace Davis had a brace.

Shreveport United 2-2 Red River

BRSC 2-1 LA Krewe.

This Week’s Matches:

Gulf Coast United vs Mississippi Blues; Saturday, June 20 at 7:00.

This should be a game where GCU rests some starters and gives time to players that need it. That opens up the possibility that the Blues could steal a win here and possibly enter the conversation for the playoffs. But they would need help elsewhere that they're not likely to get.

LA Krewe vs Phoenix; Saturday, June 20 at 7:15.

The Krewe find themselves in a position to possibly play spoiler. The Phoenix have had a very strong inaugural season, but a loss to Krewe, coupled with a Blues win, could see them knocked out of the playoffs. Recent results for Krewe makes me think they'll step up here and make things interesting.

Shreveport vs Twin Cities; Saturday, June 20 at 7:15.

Twin Cities are on zero points, but have had a better season than it appears when looking at the standings. A couple of big losses to Central LA have inflated the negative GD, but the first meeting between these two teams was a close 3-1 win for Shreveport.

BRSC vs SW Louisiana; Saturday, June 20 at 7:15.

The Capitals are dealing with pressure from the Phoenix, and they're unlikely to heavily rotate their lineup, unless/until they get a big lead. The other consideration is that they may try to run up the score to make sure they don't get caught on any tiebreakers.

Red River vs Central Louisiana; Wednesday, June 24 at 7:00.

The first match-up between these two teams saw Central get a narrow 3-2 win. An upset here could impact where Central LA gets seeded in the playoffs, as they push to return to the championship game.
