NATIONAL SOCCER NEWS: www.nationalsoccernetwork.com

We're in the homestretch for the regular season, and the races for the playoffs are shaping up nicely. Unfortunately, there's also been some bad news this week. There's been no formal announcement by the league or the club, but the remainder of Invictus’ games have all been declared forfeits. They're still continuing with their youth teams, etc. (they've just posted info for tryouts), so this is not a situation where the club is folding. But it appears that they've gone ahead and pulled the plug on the men's team. They've had a tough go, but had also earned their first point as a team with a 1-1 draw against Hattiesburg on May 23rd. The way the schedule was set, each of the other three Magnolia teams will get a win from forfeit.

The Invictus exit impacts the Magnolia division, and those forfeits will be factored in as 0-4 losses. The race will likely come down to the final game of the season, featuring first place Gulf Coast United against second place Mississippi Blues. The teams are separated by three points in the table, but GCU has a massive advantage in goal differential, and won the first head-to-head meeting 2-1. Hattiesburg may also play spoiler, given that they pulled off a 2-1 upset over the Blues this week

In the Red River division, Central Louisiana is in control at the top of the table. The three teams behind them have been competitive, but have been keeping each other from catching up to the leader. Red River is making a hard push, and has a chance to catch Central.

The Bayou division has officially had a shake-up. The Phoenix upset the Capitals last week, and they've taken the lead in the division. The upset means that the two teams split the series, and BRSC has the advantage in goal differential. While the Krewe are even with BRSC on points, that's been at the expense of the Hurricanes.

Last Week’s Results:

Red River 6-2 Twin Cities - Benjamin Conti and Jose Gomez had braces for Red River.

Shreveport United 1-2 Central Louisiana

Phoenix 2-1 BRSC

Hattiesburg 2-1 Mississippi Blues

LA Krewe 1-0 SW Louisiana

Twin Cities 2-3 Red River

SW Louisiana vs BRSC. Result not available by press time.

This Week’s Matches:

Hattiesburg vs Gulf Coast United; Saturday, June 13 at 5:00.

Hattiesburg has the chance to muck up the works with a draw or an upset win in this one. The first meeting was a 4-1 win for GCU.

Twin Cities vs Central Louisiana; Saturday, June 13 at 7:15.

Twin Cities lost the first meeting 1-7, but has the potential to keep this close at home, and steal a point.

Phoenix vs SW Louisiana; Saturday, June 13 at 7:15. The Hurricanes have been competitive, even though they haven't gotten a positive result yet. Their defense will keep them in the game, if they can find a way to score.

Shreveport United vs Red River; Saturday, June 13 at 7:15.

The first meeting between these in-city rivals was a 3-3 draw. Shreveport would dearly love to pull the upset here, and put a wrench in Red River's season.

BRSC vs LA Krewe; Sunday, June 14 at 4:00.

The Capitals dominated in the first meeting, winning 5-1. Krewe will be looking to play spoiler here, and keep the gate open for the Phoenix.
