NATIONAL SOCCER NEWS: www.nationalsoccernetwork.com
The second week of GCL2 saw some surprising results, as well as two games postponed due to weather. The surprise of the first week was that there were no draws. While that changed this week, and that was expected, the draw was between Invictus and Hattiesburg - which was a surprise. It was a well-earned and overdue point for Invictus. The other big surprise was that the Fire easily handled the Krewe, winning 5-1. It's time to get some games in the books and start getting separation in the table.
Last Week’s Results:
Mississippi Blues vs Gulf Coast United: Postponed
Twin Cities 1-0 Red River
LA Fire 5-1 LA Krewe: Nicholas Morrow and Victor Oliviera each had a brace.
Southwest LA vs BRSC: Postponed
Central LA 3-1 Shreveport United.
Invictus 1-1 Hattiesburg
Mississippi Blues 1-0 Hattiesburg
This Week’s Games:
Red River vs Shreveport United; Friday, May 29 at 7:00.
In-city rivals will enjoy the fact that they don't have to worry about traveling this week. Red River has had two solid performances, but no points to show for it. Look for that to change this week.
Southwest LA vs LA Fire; Saturday, May 30 at 7:15.
The Fire sent notice last week with a big upset win. Considering that each team has played Krewe, the results against the common opponent lead me to think that the Fire will get three points here.
LA Krewe vs BRSC; Saturday, May 30 at 7:15.
This match-up will be critical for starting to sort out in the standings. Krewe will be looking to bounce back after a hard loss last week, but BRSC looks like they're a strong favorite here.
Gulf Coast United vs Hattiesburg; Saturday, May 30 at 7:15.
Each of these teams has played Invictus, with very different outcomes. Gulf Coast should be in a good position to get the win in this one.
Central Louisiana vs Twin Cities; Saturday, May 30 at 7:15.
Central LA is back to their old tricks, winning close games each time. Twin Cities might be able to take advantage of that and get points on the road.
Mississippi Blues vs Invictus; Wednesday, June 3 at 7:15.
The Blues are looking to build off of their first win, while Invictus will be trying to keep it close to steal points.
