LEESBURG, Va. – Three goals in the first 30 minutes set the tone, and Chattanooga FC went on to capture the Women’s Premier Soccer League South Region title Sunday.
Chattanooga FC dominated for long stretches to down the LA Krewe 4-0 at the Revolution Sportsplex.
Goalkeeper Maddie Smith gained the clean sheet and along with her defense helped the team move to 8-1-1 overall with an .800 win percentage.
Chattanooga FC will head to Oklahoma State University July 18 and will take on 20th-ranked California Storm at 9:15 p.m. ET in the WPSL National Semifinals. Sporting CT and St. Croix Legacy will play in the first match at 7 p.m. ET.
Hannah Tillett scored what later proved to be the game-winner in just the 13th minute to stake her side to 1-0 advantage following a cross into the box by Reese McDermott.
It was McDermott who scored the second goal in the 19th minute off the helper from Tillett for the 2-0 cushion.
Chattanooga FC was not done, as Annick Lolita Manga Zouma volleyed home a Grace McDermott cross in the 30th minute.
Chattanooga FC’s unheralded defense simply shut down the LA Krewe, rarely allowing the Louisiana-based team a quality chance and the winners picked up its fifth shutout of the season and lowered its team goals-against-average down to 0.60.
Chattanooga FC was not done in this game, as Regina Campa scored the fourth goal at the 90+2 mark to cap the scoring.
The side is as well-balanced as any in the WPSL and features a 25-6 scoring edge this season.
The LA Krewe Rush finish the year with a 7-2-2 overall record and a 26-15 scoring edge.
