WPSL: Chattanooga FC rallies back from early deficit to advance to South Region finals for first time

LEESBURG, Va. – Chattanooga FC made club history Saturday afternoon.
The side advanced to the Women’s Premier Soccer League South Region finals for the first time thanks to rallying past Arlington Soccer Blue 3-1 at RavenTek Sports Park.
Chattanooga FC will face the LA Krewe Rush at 6 p.m. July 13 in the finals also at RavenTek Sports Park.
Tied at 1-1, Annick Lolita Manga Zouma scored the go-ahead goal in the 43rd minute after a cornerkick was bounced around the box before the forward poked one home, then recorded the brace with an insurance tally in the 53rd minute for the 3-1 advantage. The third goal was created by a bending cross by Grace Ambrose where Zouma redirected it into the back of the net. .
Arlington Soccer Blue took an early lead in the 18th minute when Logan Tongberg put her team up 1-0. That was the last goal of the season for ASC.
Chattanooga FC tied it up when Arlington back Emma Cordero picked up a red card when she tried denying a goal with her hands and Hannah Tillett drilled the ensuing penalty kick in the 41st minute to level the game at 1-1.
Maddie Smith gained the win in goal for Chattanooga, which moved to 7-1-1 overall with a 21-6 scoring edge, a 2.34 goals-per-game average and a 0.67 goals-against-average.
Arlington Blue, a wild card entrance into the national tournament, finishes 4-4-1 overall.
