USL W LEAGUE: Annapolis Blues blank Long Island Rough Riders to open postseason

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Unbeaten Annapolis Blues FC scored a goal in each half and opened up the USL W League Playoffs Thursday with a 2-0 shutout of the Long Island Rough Riders at the Navy Marine Corps Stadium.
Kelsey Smith scored the game-winner in the 24th minute and later added a late insurance tally five minutes into stoppage time at the end of the second half to advance to the Eastern Conference finals on Sunday at 7 p.m. also at the Navy Marine Corps Stadium.
The Annapolis Blues FC earned a date with defending champion North Carolina Courage U23, which knocked off Eagle FC 2-0 in its Eastern Conference semifinals.
The Chesapeake Division champion Annapolis Blues FC improved to 10-0-1 and now have a 36-5 scoring edge this season to go along with 0.46 goals-against-average over 11 games all while averaging 3.28 goals-per-game offensively.
Metropolitan Division champion Long Island Rough Riders finish the 2025 campaign with a 7-4-0 overall record and outscored its opposition 22-12 this season with six shutouts but came up empty handed against nationally-ranked Annapolis Blues FC.
