USL LEAGUE TWO: Union FC Macomb re-signs Michigan State’s Richie Ludwig

ROMEO, Mich. – Union FC Macomb announced Thursday the re-signing of Michigan State University attacking midfielder/forward Richie Ludwig for the 2025 USL League Two campaign, pending league and federation approval.
Ludwig, an accomplished youth-club player with Nationals Soccer Club at the ECNL levels dating back to middle school, competed for Union FC Macomb during its inaugural campaign in 2024.
A native of Clarkston, Mich., Ludwig started most games in 2024 for Union, which tied for sixth in the USL League Two Great Lakes Division last season.
At Michigan State, Ludwig debuted for the Spartans in the fall 2023 season. He appeared in 14 games, made 10 starts and scored two goals with an assist for MSU. In 2024, he finished third for Michigan State in points with two goals and two assists for six points while making 17 appearances with 15 starts.
The 5-foot-11, 160-pound Ludwig was also an accomplished prep player for Clarkston High School during the fall 2019-2022 seasons. The four-year starter became a four-time All-OAA Red Division, All-District, All-Region and All-State player with the Wolves. He earned Division 1 All-State First Team honors as both a junior and senior, was named to the 11-man All-State Dream Team as a senior in 2022-23 and finished second in the Mr. Soccer voting that fall 2022 season by the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association.
