Luke Persenico tied it in the 13th minute off a Hector Medrana feed and the game remained tied at the half.

In the second half, Persenico scored an unassisted goal in the 66th minute to give his side its first lead of the game. The lead was short-lived.

Preston Kipnusu leveled the game at 2-2 for Minneapolis City.

The winners did not miss in the shootout and Carson Kowalski converted the clincher in the shootout for Minneapolis City SC, which moved to 9-2-2 on the season.

The winners, champions of the Heartland Division, now owns a 34-19 scoring edge this season and will face the winner of Sueno FC and nationally-ranked Des Moines Menace on Sunday in the Round of 16.

Peoria City finished as the USL League Two runner-up last season and finished second to the Des Moines Menace in the Great Plains Division this season to qualify for the postseason once again. This time the side suffered a Round of 32 exit.

Peoria City ends the year with an 8-4-1 record and a 31-14 scoring edge.
