DES MOINES, Iowa – Historically speaking, the Des Moines Menace are one of the most prestigious clubs in the entire USL League Two dating back some three decades.

The Menace continued their winning ways Saturday.

Des Moines opened up the 2025 campaign with a 3-1 victory over the Sante Fe Wanderers in a game played at Valley Stadium.

The Menace (1-0-0) never trailed, scoring twice in the first half before tacking on another goal in the second half to capture the USL League Two-Great Plains Division victory over new-found rival Sante Fe.

Dominick Bachstein scored in just the fourth minute to put the Menace up 1-0.

In the 29th minute, Cade Hagan netted what proved to be the game-winner when he laced one into the back of the net for a 2-0 advantage.

The Wanderers (0-1-0) pulled one back to trim the deficit down to 2-1 when Marco De Oliveira slipped one past Des Moines goalkeeper Enzo Carvalho in the 42nd. That was as close as Sante Fe would get on this evening.

Rentaro Miyakawa scored the final goal for Des Moines in the 74th to make the final margin of victory by two goals.

Carvalho recorded six saves in goal for the win under the framework for Des Moines, which moved into third place in the Great Plains Division with three points.

Cole Stewart took the loss in goal for Sante Fe, which remained in fifth place in the division.
