GULFPORT, Miss. – Still on top.
Pensacola FC put up a six-sport Saturday and remained atop of the Gulf Coast Conference with a 6-1 victory over Gulf Coast United FC in the League For Clubs play at Herbert Wilson Stadium.
Pensacola FC broke open a 1-1 stalemate with a 43rd minute goal which kickstarted a period where the Pensacola scored five unanswered goals, including four in the second half. Pensacola FC lead 2-1 at the half.
Axel Gravel put Pensacola FC up for good when he scored just before halftime with his 43rd minute game-winner.
Bruno Marques added a goal less than two minutes into the second half with a 46th minute tally, while Rodrigo Bacci (74th) and Colin Spuler (82nd and 88th) extended the lead late in the game.
After Pensacola FC’s Bacci gave his side a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute, Gulf Coast United FC (1-4-0) tied it in the 16th minute on a goal by Teryn Davis. That was the last ray of hope that Gulf Coast United would enjoy on the evening, as the side slipped into seventh place in the league and have now been outscored 16-6 this season.
Pensacola FC remained in first place at 5-1-0 overall and have outscored its opposition 24-4. The side has 15 points to lead the conference.
PENSACOLA FC ACADEMY 4, GAFFA FC 1: Pensacola Academy built a 2-0 lead by the half and tacked on a pair of second half goals in recording The League For Clubs-Gulf Coast Conference win.
Jacob Ticknor (24th) and Exavier Ali (34th) scored in the first half while Josiah Arroyo (80th) and Irumva Steven (89th) added second-half goals for the winners.
Edward Alonzi gained the win in net for Pensacola FC Academy (3-2-1), which moved into fourth place with 10 points and are now in the plus department with a 10-8 scoring edge.
Ikenna Aku scored in the 83rd minute to trim the deficit down to 3-1, but his side could not complete a comeback.
TALLAHASSEE SC 5, VALDOSTA FC 0: Tallahassee FC remained unbeaten on the year in the Gulf Coast Conference with this clean sheet.
Aaron Sindhar gained the shutout in goal while five different players scored the goals for Tallahassee (4-0-0), which has outscored its foes 18-4 this season. Danny Chhtri (18th), Mirai Sato (22nd), Jakob Santiago (43rd), Caleb Elstene (48th) and Jiang Ziyue (76th) scored the goals for the winners.
