NAPA, Calif. – A week after suffering its first loss of the season, Napa Valley 1839 FC is back on track.
Napa Valley rebounded Friday with a 4-0 shutout of North Coast FC Sol in The League For Clubs-NorCal Conference play at Justin-Siena High School.
Napa Valley scored three goals in the first half before adding a fourth tally in the second half to record the team’s second clean sheet of the season.
Marco Manzo (13th), Dario Pavlon (23rd) and Ryan Dieter (36th) all scored in the first half for host Napa Valley 1839 FC.
Manzo came back in the second half to finish off the brace and scoring overall with another goal in the 70th minute.
Thomas Grimes recorded the shutout in goal for Napa Valley 1839 FC (7-1-1), which now owns an impressive 33-11 scoring edge this season and moved into a second-place tie in the NorCal Conference with 22 points.
YUBA FC 3, IRON ROSE FC 1: Yuba FC improved to 4-3-1 this season with its fourth win of the campaign at Yuba City River Valley High School.
Luiz Martinez scored bookend goals in the contest for Yuba FC, which has a 27-22 scoring edge this season.
It was the foot of the veteran Martinez who staked Yubsa to a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute.
The lead stood until the 62nd minute when Roberto Hategan pulled Iron Rose FC even. Iron Rose could not keep the momentum.
Andres Prieto scored the go-ahead goal in the 63rd barley one minute later before Martinez booted home an insurance goal in the 79th minute to provide the final margin at 3-1 for Yuba FC.
The winners improved to 13 points in the conference standings, good for seventh place overall.
Jared Oseguera earned the win in goal for Yuba FC, while Avenir Nikichuk suffered the loss in goal for Iron Rose FC (3-5-0), which sits in eighth place in the division with nine points.
