THE LEAGUE FOR CLUBS: Bernier’s game-winner helps Oakland SC rally past Yuba FC 3-2

OAKLAND, Calif. – As the leading goal scorer in the entire The League For Clubs and the NorCal Conference, Alexandrie Bernier was back to his usual tricks Saturday night.


The talented and very fast Bernier scored two goals Saturday night on his own turf, including the eventual game-winner as Oakland SC rallied past Yuba FC 3-2 in a NorCal Conference clash at Oakland Technical High School. 


Bernier scored in the 24th and 56th minutes to pace Oakland SC (7-1-0), which moved into second place with 21 points in the NorCal Conference. He now has 15 goals on the 2025 campaign. 


Yuba FC scored two early goals to stake claim to a 2-0 advantage.


Hiroshi Yang uncorked a high 40-yard banger off a free kick to give Yuba FC (3-4-1) a 1-0 advantage in the eighth minute.Yang struck again by one-timing a volley from 16 yards out into the back of the net following a cross from the left side from Eli Bussey in the 11th.


Bernier was able to get one back for Oakland SC with an unassisted goal off a steal where Bernier picked off an errant clear and scored on a breakaway in the 24th minute.


Oakland SC tied it at 2-2 in the 47th minute when Bernier set up Julio Cervantes for a goal from the doorstep.


That set the stage for Bernier. Who scored off a pass from Cervantes in the 56th for the 3-2 lead and Oakland SC held on down the stretch.


Colin Nestor notched six saves in eight chances to gain the win in goal for Oakland SC, which  has a 38-12 scoring edge this season. Oakland SC has averaged 4.75 goals-per-game as a team while Bernier has averaged 1.88 goals-per-game individually. 


Oakland SC has allowed 1.50 goals a game defensively. 


Yuba FC’s Jared Oseguera made six saves in nine chances for Yuba FC, which has 10 points overall and sit  in seventh place in the NorCal. Yuba FC has a 24-21 scoring edge this season.
