DAVIS, Calif. – If there was any debate at this time, FC Davis has settled it.

FC Davis became the first club in the League For Clubs short-lived history to begin 9-0-0 and extended its league in the Nor Cal Conference Saturday with a narrow 1-0 victory over visiting Napa Valley 1839 FC  in a game played at Playfields Soccer Stadium in Davis, California.

FC Davis has now outscored the opposition 30-14 this season sand now has 27 points to top the 13-team NorCal Conference. Oakland SC is now in second  place with 22 points and Napa Valley 1839 FC remained with 19 points and slipped into third place in the conference.

After a scoreless first half, Sergio Marquez Olea scored the go-ahead goal in the 72nd minute and that proved to be the game’s only tally to extend the side’s lead in the NorCal Conference.

Lucas Casazza notched the shutout for FC Davis on the strength of six saves for the Lions – the team’s third clean sheet of the season.

FC Davis has averaged 3.34 goals-per-game this season, while holding teams to just 1.56 goals-per-game.

Olisses Cruz made six saves but his Napa Valley 1839 side was shut out for the first time this season. Napa Valley slipped to 6-1-1 overall and have still outscored its foes 29-11 this season.
