CLINTON, Mich. – Aubrey Lauer picked up Wednesday night right where she left off in 2024.
And 2023.
And 2022.
That’s scoring goals.
The talented senior forward/attacking midfielder scored four goals Wednesday, as Clinton opened up the 2025 campaign with a 4-2 non-league victory over Jackson Northwest.
The Redwolves, the defending Lenawee County Athletic Association conference champions, outscored their opposition 99-26 last season – and 15 of those goals allowed came in the first three games.
Lauer finished last season with a single-season school record 75 goals over 17 games, which ranks in the top five in MHSAA history for goals in a season. Her team posted a respectable 13-4-0 record, including a perfect 10-0-0 in league play, and also reached the Division 4 district finals before falling to Cascades Conference champion Manchester, 3-1. The Redwolves recorded nine shutouts and were blanked three times.
Against Jackson Northwest (0-1-0), senior Ashlyn Lehman added two assisted and junior Mia Calucci drew one assists for Clinton. Junior Jaclyn Whiting recorded 12 saves for the victory in goal, while senior Eden Frederick, freshman Allyson Schaffner, and juniors Daila Alabasair and Kakayla Whitehead aided the defensive effort.
