The Major Arena Soccer League Disciplinary Review Committee, in conjunction with the Office of the Commissioner, has issued disciplinary action against Kansas City Comets player Stefan Mijatovic and Milwaukee Wave player Derek Huffman.
The MASL maintains zero tolerance for conduct unbecoming of a professional. Both rulings were influenced by the players’ probationary status.
Derek Huffman
The MASL Disciplinary Review Committee and Office of the Commissioner reviewed a red-card boarding incident involving Derek Huffman of the Milwaukee Wave and Christian Anderaos of the Kansas City Comets during the second quarter of the teams’ match on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025.
Video review showed Huffman used excessive force, violently throwing Anderaos into the boards and endangering the safety of the opponent. The incident resulted in a red card for violent conduct.
Following further review and considering Huffman’s probationary status, the committee unanimously determined Huffman will receive an additional four-game suspension, bringing the total suspension to five games. He will also be assessed an undisclosed fine and two penalty points.
The automatic one-game suspension for the red card was served Sunday, Dec. 14. The remaining four games will be served immediately.
Huffman remains on probation. Any further incident during the 2025-26 MASL season may result in an immediate and indefinite league suspension.
Stefan Mijatovic
The MASL Disciplinary Review Committee also reviewed an on-field incident involving Stefan Mijatovic during the Kansas City Comets vs. Milwaukee Wave match on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025.
Mijatovic was observed stepping on and standing over an opponent who was on the ground following a foul. The committee determined the action constituted conduct unbecoming of a professional and endangered the safety of the opponent.
As a result, Mijatovic has been suspended for one game, assessed an undisclosed fine and issued one penalty point. The suspension will be served Sunday, Dec. 21.
Mijatovic remains on probation. Any additional incident during the 2025-26 MASL season may result in an immediate league suspension.
League Notice on Player Discipline
Indoor soccer is an inherently physical sport, particularly as athletes continue to become bigger, stronger and faster. The league, referees, coaches and players share responsibility for maintaining player safety.
Actions that exceed the normal physicality of the game and place other players at risk will not be tolerated. As the MASL continues to grow, the league is enforcing a higher standard of professionalism with zero tolerance for violations of these expectations.
Both Mijatovic and Huffman are currently on league probation, which was a significant factor in the final rulings. The league office and Disciplinary Review Committee worked closely to review and adjudicate these matters.
Effective immediately following the completion of their suspensions, both players will be subject to a zero-tolerance standard. Any future disciplinary action may result in permanent disbarment from league participation.
This ruling is final and effective immediately.
