St. Charles, Missouri (December 14, 2025) — The St. Louis Ambush earned a thrilling 7–6 overtime victory over the Milwaukee Wave on Sunday afternoon at The Family Arena, picking up their first win of the season. The result moves St. Louis to 1-2-0, while Milwaukee slips to 2-0-1.

Milwaukee opened the match on a power play after St. Louis was issued a blue card for too many men on the field, but the Ambush penalty kill held strong. St. Louis struck first when a shot from Mario Falsone rang off the crossbar and deflected to Colin O’Keefe, who finished the rebound. Just over a minute later, Duduca Carvalho doubled the lead to make it 2–0. The Wave responded in the eighth minute as Max Ferdinand found the net, trimming the deficit to 2–1 by the end of the first quarter.

Milwaukee equalized in the ninth minute of the second quarter when Oscar Flores capitalized on an open net after Ambush goalkeeper Paulo Nascimento was pulled out of position following a save. St. Louis regained the lead two minutes later as Will Eskay scored off a long pass from John Gates. However, a defensive lapse late in the half left Ian Bennett unmarked, and the veteran scorer capitalized to tie the game at 3–3 heading into halftime.

The third quarter saw goals from both sides in the seventh minute, with Daniel Torrealba scoring for St. Louis and Bennett answering with his second goal of the match. Milwaukee then took its first lead of the contest in the tenth minute when Max Ludwig scored an unassisted goal to put the Wave ahead 5–4.

St. Louis answered early in the fourth quarter as O’Keefe scored his second goal of the game, assisted by Randy Martinez, to tie it at 5–5. The Ambush took a 6–5 lead in the tenth minute when Jeff Michaud finished into an open net after Wave goalkeeper William Banahene was down following a save. Milwaukee forced overtime with less than two minutes remaining as Bennett completed his hat trick on a restart goal, sending the game into sudden-death overtime tied at 6–6.

The winning moment came 1:35 into overtime when Torrealba fired a shot through traffic and past Banahene, sealing the 7–6 victory for the Ambush.

St. Louis will head west next, traveling to California to face the Empire Strykers at Toyota Arena in Ontario on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 9:05 p.m. CST. The Ambush return home on Sunday, December 21, at 3:05 p.m. CST to host the Kansas City Comets at The Family Arena.
