The Kansas City Comets unleashed a relentless offensive performance Sunday afternoon, rolling past Utica City FC 11–5 at Adirondack Bank Center in Utica, New York.

Kansas City delivered the ideal response to Friday’s defeat, scoring on nearly 40 percent of its shots to secure its third road win of the season. Zach Reget led the charge with his first hat trick of the campaign, while second-year goalkeeper Julio Coronado earned his first career victory with 13 saves and added his first professional assist in just his second career start.

Despite the lopsided final score, the Comets were tested early. Utica City struck first just 64 seconds into the match, but Kansas City answered when Stefan Mijatovic converted off a restart before Guerrero Pino tallied his first goal of the season. Utica City equalized late in the opening quarter and reclaimed the lead early in the second, but that advantage was short-lived.

From that point on, the Comets’ attack—despite the absence of leading scorer Rian Marques—took control. Reget and Dominic Francis connected on a wallascora to level the match, then Reget scored twice in quick succession. A slick give-and-go with Mikey Lenis extended the lead before Christian Anderaos added another wallascora to send Kansas City into halftime ahead 6–3.

The Comets kept their foot on the gas in the third quarter. Anderaos struck again after a long clearance from Coronado set up Mijatovic, and Leo Acosta forced a turnover deep in Kansas City’s half before going coast-to-coast to make it 8–3. Utica City briefly trimmed the deficit twice, but Reget completed his hat trick, the Comets killed off a penalty, and Marcel Berry sealed the result with a pair of empty-net goals.

With the win, Kansas City improved to 4–2–0 (11 points) and sits atop the MASL standings after three weeks. Utica City remains winless through its first two matches.
