ROAD TO FINALS:

Def. El Paso Surf (7-0)

Def. So Cal Union FC (2-0)

Def. Chattanooga FC (1-0)

NOTABLES: The California Storm are making their ninth national finals appearances since the league was formed back in 1998, an all-time record. The side didn’t play very many games in the regular season but have pitched three straight shutouts in the postseason all while scoring 10 goals in those matches. The defending champions, also winners a total of five times (1999, 2002, 2004, 2022 and 2024), have played sterling defense all season after conceding only five goals with five shutouts. Sporting CT will pose a threat to defensive dominance with the league’s best offense.

NO. 13 SPORTING CT

REGULAR SEASON:

Record: 9-1-0 Northeastern Division (first)

Team Stats: 27 points; .900 win pct.; 2.70 points-per-match; 53-5 scoring edge (+48); six shutouts; 5.30 goals-per-game; 1.00 goals-against-average; closed regular season with a two-game win streak

POSTSEASON:

Record: 3-0-0 (Western Conference champions)

Team Stats: 15-2 scoring edge (+13); one shutouts; 5.00 goals-per-game; 0.67 goals-against-average

OVERALL:

Record: 12-1-0

Team Stats: .924 win pct.; 2.70 points-per-match (regular season); 68-12 scoring edge (+56); six shutouts; 5.24 goals-per-game; 0.93 goals-against-average; currently on five-game win streak

ROAD TO FINALS:

Def. Niagara 1812 (9-0)

Def. Pennsylvania Classics (2-1)

Def. St. Croix (4-1)

NOTABLES: Despite a 3-1 setback to the Merrimack Valley Hawks FC back on June 22, this team has been on target virtually all season. The side dropped from No. 1 to No. 13 in the Top25 Power Rankings before the tournament, but its overall numbers are what champions are made of in this league. Sporting CT has six shutouts in 13 games, outscored the opposition 68-12 for a 5.24 goals-per-game average, and has been cooking in the postseason with a 15-2 scoring edge. Can Sporting CT put together one more impressive effort and win their first title?

The California Storm raise the trophy high after winning the 2024 WPSL national championship. The title extended the Storm’s record to five WPSL championships dating back to 1998 and seventh appearance in the finals, also a league record.
