USL LEAGUE TWO: Annapolis edges Charlottesville in battle of the ‘Blues’

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Annapolis and Charlottesville both carry the nickname Blues on their respective jerseys and banners.
Out on the soccer pitch, not much separated the two sides.
The Annapolis blues edged host Charlottesville Blues FC 2-1 in USL League Two-Chesapeake Division play Monday at Charlottesville (Va.) High School.
And it took nearly the whole game to squeak out the win.
Matthew Lenant scored a 90th minute goal to put his side up 2-1 and the defense held off Charlottesville in the waning minutes.
Solaiman Abdul-Mateen gave Charlottesville (1-1-1) a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute while Ben Madore tied the game in the 37th minute for Annapolis Blues (1-0-0).
Emigdio Tormo-Lopez recorded the win in goal for Annapolis.
