Points Shared in Mid-Week USL One Match

The Greenville Triumph ground out a 1-1 draw at Forward Madison in mid-week USL League One action in Wisconsin. The road draw was just the fourth point on the road this season for the Triumph as the team battles to climb the table towards the playoff line.

The Triumph used their recent formula of success as new signing Muba Nour scored a goal while goalkeeper Amal Knight made several game-changing saves to earn the point.

After an uneventful opening 20 minutes, Greenville opened the scoring in the 27^th minute as Muba Nour pounced on a loose rebound inside the Forward area to bury the ball for the 1-0 lead. William Akio collected the ball at the midfield stripe and drove on the dribble all the way to the top of the Forward area where he cut inside splitting two defenders to unleash a low driven shot to the far post. The Forward keeper parried the Akio shot away but right into the run of Nour who smashed the ball past the recovering Forward keeper in the scramble.

Madison tied the match in the 44^th minute with a free kick served in from the midfield. The in-swinging ball was headed down by Hakim Karamoko at the far post bounding past Knight in the Greenville nets to level things 1-1 going into the halftime break.

Both teams would see few chances early in the second half, but it was Forward forcing a Knight save in the 53^rd minute before another Forward attack produced a punching save from Knight just a minute later. Knight finished with seven saves in the match with the majority coming in the 10-minute deluge of shots Forward poured on the Triumph nets early in the second half. Neither team really threatened to score after the 70th minute as the now defensive match crept towards full time.

Greenville had one final look on a late, late chance deep into stoppage time as Evan Lee redirected a cross on target after the ball was driven to the near post from the right flank. The Forward keeper at full stretch punched the ball away for a corner kick as the match would end just seconds later as Greenville headed the resulting corner up and over the bar. Final score 1-1.

Greenville picks up a valuable point on the road at third place Forward Madison and moves their record to 5W-10L-4T (19 points) in fourteenth place in the table.
