AUSTELL, Ga. — Last Tuesday’s midweek USL League Two matchday pitted Austell's Southern Soccer Academy Swarm FC against Montgomery United. SSA Swarm FC cruised to a 4-0 victory, extending their grip on the South Central Conference. The rivals met earlier in the month, producing a 2-2 draw. This match followed an unfortunate loss for Montgomery, which fell to last-place East Atlanta FC three days prior.

Both sides traded chances early. The Swarm began deploying a high press that would prove crucial to their victory. The match's first major sequence came in the 12th minute off a long Swarm counterattack. Montgomery's goalkeeper stepped out to make a save, leaving the net empty. A Swarm player delivered a sliding shot, but Joaquin Lauria's goal-line clearance kept the Alabamians level.

Montgomery's Fabio Guerreiro made strong runs in the first half, showing attacking potential. Despite those efforts, SSA Swarm maintained continuous pressure that prevented Montgomery from advancing and creating attacking options.

The scoring began in the 30th minute when Oli Orzechowski slipped past the defensive line and slotted home to give the Swarm a 1-0 lead. The Swarm continued to control the remainder of the first half, stifling most Montgomery chances quickly.

After halftime, the Swarm didn't wait long to double their lead. In the 53rd minute, Porter Smith's deflected shot sailed over the goalkeeper for a 2-0 advantage. The Swarm then settled into the offensive half for much of the match's final stretch, with Montgomery's chances hampered by a strong Swarm backline.

In the 73rd minute, the Swarm were awarded a penalty kick after a handball in the box. Cherif Tammar converted powerfully to make it 3-0.

A corner kick in the 90th minute found defender Lewis Green's head to close out a 4-0 final. Looking ahead, Montgomery will look to regroup against Atlanta's Apotheos FC in the first of three straight home matches. That game kicks off June 26 at 7 p.m. ET at Emory Folmar Soccer Complex in Montgomery, Ala.

SSA Swarm FC, meanwhile, aims to build on its dominant conference form when it faces Birmingham Legion II at 2:30 p.m. CT (3:30 p.m. ET) at Legion Training Center in Birmingham, Ala.
