Omaha Scores Three Unanswered Goals to Down Greenville

Nour gave the hosts an early lead, but the Owls win 3-1

The Greenville Triumph had a dream start to their home match versus high-flying Union Omaha only to see it all slip away in the second half allowing three unanswered goals to see the match finish 3-1 to Omaha.

Muba Nour scored in the 4^th minute to put the hosts up early and gave the fans on Youth Soccer night something to celebrate.  Nour received a pass up the left channel of the field and then went on a long solo dribble to the edge of the penalty box.  Nour cut sharply across the defender at the top of the box and then ripped a swerving shot that dipped into the back post side netting for the early 1-0 lead.

The match was level just a few minutes later as Omaha’s Sergio Ors scored in the 10^th minute heading in a floated cross from the right flank to knot things at 1-1.

The tempo slowed after these early minutes and the match became a midfield duel with both teams creating chances but both teams unable to find another goal.  The Triumph rattled the crossbar and had a dangerous 1v1 breakaway that Omaha managed to survive and keep things 1-1 at the half.

Omaha took the lead in the 64^th minute as Edrey Cáceres found the nets from a shot at the top of the box before turning out the lights at GE Vernova in the 94^th minute when Kempes Tekiela tapped in a low cross for the third and final goal of the night for Omaha.

“I felt the performance of the group tonight mimicked the effort and energy we got from them all week in training,” said interim Triumph Head Coach Joel Tyson.  “There was a substance to our collective energy and fight and I was really proud of their application, especially in the first 45 minutes.”

With the win Omaha has won five-straight matches and climbs to the top of the USL League One table while Greenville on their recent five-game skid slumps to next-to-last-place just three points off the foot of the table.

Five matches remain for Greenville this season and the next two matches will be on the road at Boise (October 3) and at AV Alta  (October 10).
