Electric City Earns Massive 3-1 Road Win at Mint Hill

The hottest team in the UPSL Premier Mid-Atlantic South conference picked up another massive road result over the weekend in the Charlotte suburbs. The latest win was 3-1 over Mint Hill as a Nico Ortiz brace and a third goal by Anthony Grudko saw the visitors grab all three points. Electric City has won four straight games to climb all the way from the bottom of the table into a playoff position with just one more regular season game to play. It will be a playoff atmosphere next Saturday at Old McCants as the Coastal Kings visit Anderson in what is basically a post-season play-in match. The Kings are sitting in fifth place on 15 points just behind Electric in fourth place on 17 points.



Battery Falls 0-1 in New Mexico

It was an 81st minute goal from the hosts in the desert to lift New Mexico United to a 1-0 win over the visiting Charleston Battery. The defensive struggle just didn’t go the way of the visitors who have been on the road for 8 of the last 10 matches. Battery keeper Luis Zamudio posted his 200th USLC save in the match to provide a personal milestone moment in the match. The Battery will make a welcome return to the Point on May 30 versus Detroit City as the team will start a three-game homestand.

Soda City Stay in 2nd Place with Draw at Surf

Caree Collier scored a brace as Soda City FC earned a hard-fought 2-2 draw on the road at the SC Surf last Sunday night. The Surf goals were from Ada Kirkwood and William Marson to make things level at the final whistle. The result keeps Soda in second place (22 points) and the Surf in third place (19 points) in the conference table with just one final match day left in the regular season. Soda plays for the conference crown as they host the Columbia derby versus the Heat on Sunday, May 31 while the Surf travels to an always tricky Asheville FC on May 31.



Weather Forces Several Matches to Be Postponed

The inaugural match for the expansion UPSL Women Royal Cavaliers FC was postponed due to field conditions last Saturday in Lancaster. The home match versus Soda City will be played later this season. The SC United Heat had a lengthy weather delay before postponing their home match versus Charlotte SA on Saturday night in Columbia.



USMSNT Concludes Training Camp in North Augusta

The US Men’s Senior (Over 40) National Team held their final 2026 Thailand Senior World Cup training camp in North Augusta over Memorial Day weekend, A youth soccer camp, team meetings, several training sessions, and two exhibition matches completed a busy weekend of soccer just ahead of the Senior World Cup being played June 1-6. The 25-man roster was selected from the camp and the group left almost immediately for Asia and their group stage matches beginning June 1 versus Taiwan. Other group stage games include June 2 versus Thailand and June 3 versus England. All matches will be streamed live on the Amigo Sports Media Youtube channel.



Bantams Slip on the Road at Hickory FC

The South Carolina United Bantams dropped their USL2 match on the road at Hickory FC by a 2-1 score last week in North Carolina. Hickory had built a 2-0 lead in the match before Junior Saint Juste pulled one back for the visitors in the 55th minute. The Bantams were unable to find the equalizer late in the match and now turn their attention to the home opener on May 30 as NCFC visits Columbia for a 7 PM kickoff. The Bantams fall to 0W-2L-0T on the young season.


Triumph Play to 1-1 Draw with Hearts of Pine

Rodrigo Robles put the Greenville Triumph ahead in the 70th minute only to see a Greenville hand ball produce a red card and penalty kick from Portland just minutes later to level the match from the spot to share the points. Greenville has one more away date at One Knoxville on May 29 before the grand opening of their new home stadium GE Vernova Park on June 3 versus Forward Madison.


Bantams W-League Side Blanked by Ascent

The South Carolina United Bantams USL W-League team dropped their latest home match 0-2 to the visiting Carolina Ascent last Sunday night in Columbia. The visitors from Charlotte scored just before the halftime break and then added an insurance goal in the 80th minute to claim all three points. The Bantams now fall to 0W-3L-0T on the early season and have a road trip to Wilmington, NC on June 3 to play Port City before returning home to play Wake FC on June 6.
