Battery Earns USL Cup Win In Loudoun

Miguel Berry scored his first Battery goal in the 16th minute and then Graham Smith scored in second-half stoppage time to grab a 2-1 win over Loudoun United on the road to open Prinx Tires USL Cup group play. Smith scored his goal as the towering defender headed home a looping ball off a corner kick that had been kept alive inside the goalmouth before Smith applied the final touch. The Battery return to USL Championship action this weekend hosting USLC expansion team Sporting Jax on Saturday night as the club will hold a Cico de Mayo theme night at the Point.



Triumph Falls 0-3 In the Steel City

The Greenville Triumph dropped a 0-3 result on the road in Pittsburgh last weekend as they opened Prinx Tires USL Cup group play. This first-ever meeting between the clubs was all Riverhounds as they scored in the 8th minute and again in the 42nd minute to control the scoreboard and go on to win the opening match 3-0 in the group stage. The Triumph continues their road dates in USL1 action by playing at Union Omaha on Saturday, May 2 before returning to the Upstate to host the Richmond Kickers on May 9 at Clemson University

Heat Wins 3-0 Over Electric City

Tom Marriott scored a brace as the South Carolina United Heat stayed undefeated with a 3-0 win over Electric City. The Heat are now 7-0-0 on the year and have a commanding +21 goal differential as they have posted shutouts in six of their seven games this season. Marriott, on 13 goals and counting, is third in the nation in scoring as he chases another UPSL Golden Boot (won the honor in the fall of 2024). The Heat have just four matches remaining in the regular season and sit 6 points clear at the top of the table. Combine Academy visits the Heat on Sunday, May 3 at 6 PM.



Soda Posts 5-2 Win at Gastonia FC

Five different players found the nets as Soda City secured a 5-2 win on the road at Gastonia last weekend. Joseph Davis, Caree Collier, Jose Flores, Jordan Lester, and Esteban Ramos all scored for Soda in the win. Flores now leads the team with 9 goals scored this season. Soda still sits in second place in the conference standings six points behind the Heat with just four matches left in the regular season. Up next is a trip to Savannah to play the Coastal Kings on May 3.



Surf Crushes NC Baller 11-0

The South Carolina Surf crushed the visiting, winless NC Ballers 11-0 in the Lowcountry last Sunday evening. Seven different Surf players found the nets with both Vladyslav Horshchynskyi and Brady Delay netting a brace to keep the Surf in the top three of the conference standings. The Surf have five games remaining in the regular season and travel to Mint Hill on Saturday, May 2.
