Soccer News from South Carolina
Soda City Wins 2-0 Over Charlotte SA
Dan Wheeler scored in the first half and Felipe Azevedo scored just after the break as Soda City defeated Charlotte 2-0 last Sunday night in Irmo. Soda was in complete control of the match from whistle to whistle and now sits just four points out of first place with two huge match days just ahead to close out the month of May. Soda travels to the Surf on May 24 before hosting the Colombia Derby versus the Heat on May 31.

Heat and Gastonia Play to 1-1 Draw
The South Carolina United Heat dropped their first points of the season with their 1-1 draw on the road in Gastonia last weekend. The Heat have been sitting in first place in the conference the entire season and now hold a 8W-0L-1T mark on 25 points at the top of the table. The Heat have two remaining matches this season hosting Charlotte SA on May 23 before playing away in the Columbia derby at Soda City on May 31.
Surf Thumps Coastal Kings 4-1 in Lowcountry Derby
It was the Lowcountry of SC versus the Coastal Empire of GA as the South Carolina Surf ran out a convincing 4-1 win over the visiting Coastal Kings last Sunday night. Isaiah Cromedy netted a hat trick as Briggs Gwozdo added the fourth Surf goal as the hosts kept pace with the top two in the conference looking to make the playoffs in their inaugural season of play. The Surf host Soda on May 24.
Electric City Crushes Winless Ballers 10-0
Six different players scored for Electric City as they lit up the scoreboard in Anderson crushing the winless, last-place NC Ballers last Sunday at Old McCants Stadium. The home crowd saw Nico Ortiz score a hat trick while Mitchel Waycott and Daniel Stryffeler each added a brace to pace the attack. Caio Ferreira, Taylor Tucker, and Jorge Henao also scored a goal as Electric cruised to the comfortable victory. Electric has won three out of their last four matches and have steadily climbed the table, moving all the way up to 8th place in the conference. Three tough matches versus the SC Surf, Mint Hill, and Coastal Kings wrap up the regular season.
Triumph Falls 0-3 at Riggs Field to Visiting Kickers
It was all Richmond Kickers last weekend at Clemson University as the Greenville Triumph fell 0-3 in their final temporary-home match before the opening of the new GE Vernova Park. The Triumph go on the road for a pair of matches before returning to the Upstate for the June 3 opening match at GE Vernova Park versus Forward Madison.
Battery on the Road for Next Two Matches
The Charleston Battery have a Prinx Tires USL Cup match at the Richmond Kickers up next on May 16 before a USLC trip to the desert southwest to play New Mexico United on May 23. The Battery return home on May 30 hosting Detroit City in their 2026 Military Appreciation theme night at 6 PM.
Bantams Continue to Build Roster Ahead of Season Opener
The South Carolina United Bantams have been busy steadily signing players ahead of the upcoming USL2 and USL W-League seasons. The USL2 season begins on May 16 away to the Charlotte Independence while the W-League season also opens on the road at Wake FC on May 17. The home openers are set and the USL2 home dates begin with NCFC on May 30 while the W-League dates start versus the NC Courage on May 20.
