PORTLAND, Ore. — In a back-and-forth Western Conference clash, Portland Timbers2 (T2) extended their home unbeaten streak to four matches, drawing 2-2 with North Texas SC on Sunday afternoon. Despite a resilient second-half comeback to take the lead, Portland was forced to settle for a single point after North Texas found a late equalizer and ultimately secured the extra shootout point with a 5-3 win on penalties.

The result moves T2 to a 1-0-3 record at Providence Park this season, as the young squad continues to make their home turf a difficult environment for visiting opponents.

A Tale of Two Halves

The first half was a frustrating affair for the hosts. North Texas took the lead in the 26th minute through an unfortunate sequence for T2 defender Nicklas Lund, who redirected a visiting cross into his own net while attempting a block.

Portland responded with a dominant second-half surge:

  • 53rd Minute: First-team forward Gage Guerra, making his first MLS NEXT Pro appearance of the year, leveled the score. Guerra latched onto a threaded through-ball from Sawyer Jura and finished clinicaly. The goal marked Guerra's 16th career goal contribution for T2.

  • 62nd Minute: Noah Santos stepped up to the spot and buried a penalty into the lower-left corner to give Portland their first lead of the day. With the strike, Santos became the first T2 player to record multiple goals in the 2026 campaign.

Late Drama and Shootout

North Texas refused to leave the Rose City empty-handed. In the 82nd minute, Edouard Nys collected the ball in the center of the pitch and unleashed a brilliant, curling shot with the outside of his foot that tucked just inside the left post to knot the game at 2-2.

In the ensuing shootout to determine the winner of the extra standings point:

  1. North Texas went a perfect 5-for-5 from the spot.

  2. T2's opening attempt by Gage Guerra was saved by Eryk Dymora.

  3. Successful penalties from Daniel Cervantes, Nicklas Lund, and Adolfo Enriquez weren't enough to overcome the early deficit, as North Texas took the shootout 5-3.
