MLS Disciplinary Committee Suspends Luis Suárez Following Game 2 Incident vs. Nashville SC
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The MLS Disciplinary Committee has announced multiple rulings following Game 2 of the Round One Best-of-3 Series in the Audi 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs, including a suspension for Inter Miami CF star forward Luis Suárez.
The committee determined Suárez committed violent conduct in the 71st minute of Miami’s November 1 match against Nashville SC. As a result, he has been suspended for one match and fined an undisclosed amount under Disciplinary Committee Parameter 3. The veteran striker will serve his suspension during Miami’s decisive Game 3 clash against Nashville on November 8.
This latest incident adds to a long disciplinary record for the Uruguayan forward — Suárez has now been suspended a total of 67 games across his professional career, spanning club and international play. Known for his competitive edge and fiery temperament, Suárez’s passion has often pushed the boundaries of fair play.
The suspension delivers a major blow to Inter Miami, which will now be without one of its most influential attackers in a must-win match.
Fray Fined for Simulation
In a separate ruling, Inter Miami defender Ian Fray was fined for violating the league’s policy on simulation/embellishment in the 4th minute of the same match. The committee deemed Fray’s actions an attempt to deceive officials, reinforcing MLS’s continued focus on integrity and fair play.
What’s Next
The suspension and fines come at a crucial point in the series, which is tied 1–1 after Nashville’s strong performance in Game 2. With Suárez sidelined, Miami will look to other stars to carry the load in the deciding matchup.
Kickoff for Game 3 between Nashville SC and Inter Miami CF is set for November 8, with the winner advancing to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
