Detroit City FC Terminates Employee After Arrest on Terrorist Threat Charges

DETROIT (Sept. 11, 2025) — Detroit City Football Club has terminated an employee after he was arrested on charges of making terrorist threats in Illinois, the club announced Wednesday.

Charges & Arrest

The employee, 25‑year‑old Jarrett Maki of Detroit, is accused of making bomb and active‑shooter threats to businesses in East Alton, Illinois.
The investigation began in July, after several businesses received threatening phone calls and some closed early as a precaution.
On September 3, authorities carried out a search warrant at a residence on Niagara Street in East Alton, during which evidence was seized and another individual, Illinois man Austin Blair, was arrested.
On September 6, Maki was located at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois, taken into custody, and charged with 11 counts of making terrorist threats. Blair faces the same charges.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 3.
In Illinois, making a terroristic threat is a Class X felony, punishable by 6 to 30 years in prison.
Maki has been released under pretrial conditions. Illinois does not use cash bond in this type of case. h
