NEW YORK — The MLS Disciplinary Committee has issued a series of fines following Matchday 8 of the 2026 season, targeting simulation, physical misconduct, and team-wide confrontations during recent league fixtures.

Evander Fined for Simulation

FC Cincinnati midfielder Evander has been issued a fine for violating the league’s policy regarding simulation/embellishment. The incident occurred in the 68th minute of Cincinnati’s 3-3 draw against Chicago Fire FC on April 18. Despite his clinical performance earlier in the match, the committee ruled that the Brazilian playmaker’s actions mid-way through the second half warranted a financial penalty.

Disorder at Gillette Stadium: Revs vs. Crew

The most significant rulings stemmed from the April 18 clash between the New England Revolution and Columbus Crew, which was marred by a second-half flare-up that required league intervention.

Individual Misconduct

Columbus Crew midfielder André Gomes was fined an undisclosed amount for hands to the face, head, or neck of an opponent. The violation took place in the 70th minute, serving as the spark for broader tension on the pitch.

Mass Confrontation Policy Violations

Both clubs were found in violation of the league's Mass Confrontation Policy for the ensuing scrum.

  • New England Revolution: This marked the first violation of the season for the Revolution. Fines were issued to the club and first-year Head Coach Marko Mitrović.

  • Columbus Crew: The Crew recorded their second violation of the season. As repeat offenders, the league issued higher-tier fines to the club and Head Coach Henrik Rydström.

Additionally, Crew defender Rudy Camacho and forward Diego Rossi were singled out and fined for their roles in inciting and/or escalating the confrontation.
