MICHIGAN GIRLS SOCCER: Holt earns tie against state-ranked DeWitt; Jones sets scoring record for Stevenson; Marshall, Adrian, Lakeview, Gull Lake all post impressive victories

HOLT, Mich. – Rylie Ysasi scored a goal in the 65th minute Thursday and Holt earned a 1-1 Capital Area Athletic Conference-Blue Division tie with Division 2 seventh-ranked DeWitt.


Brooki Kahn-Jacques had an assist on the goal for the Rams (0-1-1, 0-0-1) and Linden Ray made 15 saves in goal for Holt against the league favorites.


Freshman Madison McCarthy scored for Dewitt to stake the Panthers to a 1-0 lead. Senior Madison McDonald collected six saves for DeWitt (2-0-2, 0-0-1).

STERLING HEIGHTS STEVENSON 2, GROSSE POINTE SOUTH 0: Presley Jones has etched her name in the Stevenson Titans record books. Jones scored two goals in a 2-0 win against Grosse Pointe South. With her 3rd and 4th goal of the season, Jones now has 50 career goals which is the new career record at Stevenson (3-1-1, 2-1-1). Laila Martin provided the assist on the record-breaking goal while Isabelle Reda picked up the assist on the other tally. Diana Marku secured her second shutout of the year aided by stellar play from Maria Micakaj, Ava and Alyssa McGowan. 


MARSHALL 8, HILLSDALE 0: Anaya Burghdorf scored twice and Nyla Whittaker drew three assists as Marshall cruised to the non-conference win. Lola Saber, Lillian Moore and Alaina Dillon also had a goal and an assist apiece, Jane Taylor and Darain Henson both contributed  a goal, Zadie Zuelhke and Jordyn St. John had two assists apiece and Ollie Rozell scored the game’s first goal for the Redhawks (3-2-0), who now own a 17-7 scoring edge with three shutouts. Megan Behfeldt and Moore shared the shutout for Marshall.


ADRIAN 2, PARMA WESTERN 0: The Maples picked up their second clean sheet of the season in recording this non-league win Thursday. Tatum Bolton scored both goals for Adrian (2-1-0). 


BATTLE CREEK LAKEVIEW 10, BATTLE CREEK CENTRAL 0: Carson Howard notched the shutout between the pipes and Leah Olivarri, Lilamae Frank and Shaelah Clark all scored two goals apiece in the Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference victory. The Spartans improved to 3-0-0 overall on the campaign, including 1-0-0 in league play, and have now outscored their opposition 17-3 this season.


RICHLAND GULL LAKE 7, PORTAGE NORTHERN 1: Gull Lake opened up Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference play with this resounding league victory over the Huskies. The Blue Devils remained unbeaten at 4-0-0 and have now outscored its four foes 18-2. Gull Lake had multiple goal scorers and Bella Carr notched the win in goal for Gull Lake. Portage Northern slipped to 1-1-1.   


PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 8, ALMONT 0: Notre Dame Prep scored early and often in cruising past defending Blue Water Area Conference champion Almont on Thursday. Emily Teolis and Sarah Collins both notched two goals and an assist and both Adrianna Lorenz and Maggie Maher finished with a goal and an assist apiece. Ellie Whalen and Alex Prater (penalty kick) also scored for the Fighting Irish.


HOLLY 4, WHITE LAKELAND LAKELAND 1: Grace Kubiak recorded 15 saves and Alexis Lindley picked up two goals and an assist as Holly captured the non-league win over Lakeland. Ela Knight and Sophia Cirino also scored, Abbie Hill had two assists and Ambrielle Hoffman assisted on another goal for the Broncos (4-0-0), off to their best start in program history.
