MICHIGAN GIRLS SOCCER: Brighton edges Northville to reach KLAA finals

BRIGHTON, Mich. – The KLAA switched things up this season in terms of how girls soccer was played in terms of conference play.
No more home and away for the 16-school, two division conference.
Each team played each divisional rival once with the top four schools in the East Division and West Division competing in an eight-team KLAA Gold Tournament, while the bottom four schools from both divisions competing in the KLAA Silver Tournament. Every school was guaranteed seven divisional games and three tournament contests with the option of increasing the number of n on-conference games and dates.
Brighton and Northville both qualified for the Gold Tournament with Northville finishing second in the KLAA-West and Brighton third.
The two squared off in the KLAA Gold Tournament semifinals Monday in Northville where Division 1 15th-ranked Brighton snared a narrow 1-0 victory over Northville, listed as honorable mention in the rankings.
Freshman forward Kyla Bobby scored the lone goal in the 43rd minute for Brighton (13-3-0), which face Hartland in the KLAA Championships Friday at 7 p.m. at KLAA-West champ Hartland. The Division 1 11th-ranked Eagles sprung a 4-0 victory over Salem in the other semifinal.
Sophomore Anna Brown Hall notched the shutout for Brighton, the team’s eighth clean sheet of the campaign. The Bulldogs have outscored the opposition 44-18 this season and have never been kept off the scoreboard in any match.
