SAINT CHARLES, Mo. — Postseason soccer is officially returning to The Family Arena. Despite having the weekend off, the St. Louis Ambush officially clinched a berth in the 2025–26 Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) Ron Newman Cup Playoffs on Sunday, following the Tacoma Stars' loss to Utica City FC.

The Ambush currently boast an 11–5–4 record with four games remaining in the regular season. By securing a spot among the league's top six teams, St. Louis has guaranteed their fans at least one home playoff match in Saint Charles, rewarding a loyal base with the high-intensity atmosphere of MASL knockout soccer.

"While we enjoyed the weekend off, the work is far from over," the team noted in a statement. "Securing our place in the Ron Newman Cup Playoffs is a testament to the consistency of this group, but now our focus shifts to finishing the season strong and securing the best possible seed."

The Road to the Ron Newman Cup

While the Ambush's postseason presence is a certainty, their final seeding and first-round opponent are still very much in flux. Under the MASL playoff format, the top two seeds receive a first-round bye. The quarterfinals will see the No. 3 seed face No. 6, while the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds battle for a spot in the semifinals.

The quarterfinal and semifinal rounds are structured as follows:

  • Format: A home-and-home series.

  • Tie-Breaker: If the series is tied at one win apiece following the second game, a third "knockout game" is played immediately to determine who advances.

  • Championship Series: A best-of-three set between the final two remaining clubs.

Looking Ahead

The Ambush are expected to begin their playoff journey during the first weekend of April. In the meantime, the club faces a challenging end to the regular season as they look to climb the standings. They hit the road this week for a West Coast swing, visiting the Tacoma Stars on Saturday, March 21, and the San Diego Sockers on Sunday, March 22.

St. Louis will return to The Family Arena for their final home game of the regular season on Friday, March 27, against Utica City FC. The 7:05 p.m. CDT kickoff will likely serve as a crucial tune-up for the postseason. The regular season officially wraps up on March 29 with a road match against the Empire Strykers.

Tickets for the remainder of the regular season and upcoming playoff information are available through the team's official website at stlambush.com or by calling the team office at 636-477-6363.
