Louisville City FC midfielder Taylor Davila has been voted the 2025 USL Championship Player of the Year, capping off a standout season in which he delivered four goals, nine assists, and elite two-way production to help secure LouCity’s second straight Players’ Shield.

Davila becomes just the second player in club history to earn the league’s top individual honor, joining Matt Fondy (2015). The award adds to his third consecutive USL Championship All-League First Team selection.

“It is a great honor to receive this award from everyone in and around the league,” Davila said. “Thank you to my teammates and staff who fought with me every weekend and pushed me every day to be a better player. No one receives awards like this without people like you.”

Dominant Across the Pitch

Since signing with Louisville City ahead of the 2024 season, Davila has been central to the club’s back-to-back regular-season success. His nine assists—his best single-season mark—came from 55 chances created, tied for fourth-most in the league. He completed nearly 80 percent of his passes overall and posted a 71.4 percent accuracy rate in the attacking third.

Defensively, Davila was one of the league’s most effective ball-winners. He led all outfield players with 190 recoveries, 31 more than any other player, and won possession 122 times in the central third, also a league best. He finished tied for sixth with 40 tackles won at a 69 percent success rate and added 21 possession wins in the attacking third—third-most in the Championship.

According to American Soccer Analysis, Davila posted a +7.15 Goals Added rating, the highest among central midfielders in 2025, becoming the first player at his position to win the award since Yordany Alvarez in 2011.

“We are proud of Davi and the work he put in this season,” said Louisville City Head Coach Danny Cruz. “His consistency, quality, and personality have helped us compete for and win multiple USL Regular Season Championships. This recognition reflects the work he and his teammates put in all year.”

How the Voting Played Out

Davila earned 46 percent of the vote, which included club management and a league-wide media panel representing every USL market. Oakland Roots SC’s Peter Wilson finished second with 15 percent, followed by Charleston Battery’s Cal Jennings with 10 percent.

Eleven players received votes in total.
