COSTA BRAVA, Spain — The Inter Miami CF Academy’s U-19 team has arrived in Spain to compete in the prestigious 2026 Mediterranean International Cup (MIC). Representing the 2007 age group, the young Herons are set to face a gauntlet of elite international youth talent in a tournament renowned for showcasing future global stars.
Participation in the MIC is a cornerstone of Inter Miami’s commitment to providing its academy players with high-level international exposure. Competing against some of the world’s top clubs in Costa Brava allows the South Florida side to test its development philosophy against the best youth systems in Europe and South America.
The Road Ahead: Group F
Inter Miami enters the tournament in Group F of the U-19 category. To advance to the knockout stages, the Herons must finish in the top two of their group.
Group Stage Schedule:
Wednesday, April 1: vs. OVT Academy (Brazil) — 12:00 p.m. ET
Thursday, April 2: vs. Ida Valencia (Spain) — 5:00 a.m. ET
Thursday, April 2: vs. CF Lloret (Spain) — 12:00 p.m. ET
Should the squad advance, the Round of 16 is scheduled for the morning of Friday, April 3, with the goal of reaching the tournament final on Sunday, April 5.
Elite Preparation
The Academy didn't arrive in Spain empty-handed. In the days leading up to the tournament, the U-19s engaged in high-profile friendly matches against Girona FC and Barcelona B. These fixtures served as a vital "litmus test" for the speed and technicality of Spanish football, ensuring the Herons are battle-hardened before the official group play begins.
A Growing International Legacy
This trip marks another chapter in Inter Miami’s expanding international footprint. Following a successful run in the 2025 edition of the tournament—where the Academy reached the final and went undefeated in friendly play—the 2026 squad is eager to build on that momentum.
"This exciting international experience reflects the Academy's continued growth," the club stated. "We are committed to developing top-tier talent capable of competing at the highest levels of the global game."
