HOOVER, AL — Hoover-Vestavia Soccer (HVS), a premier youth soccer organization based in the Birmingham area, continues its mission to develop top-tier talent across the Southeast, laying strong foundations for players aiming for collegiate and professional opportunities.
Founded as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, HVS competes at the highest levels of youth soccer for athletes ages U11 through U19 and is affiliated with major national competitive platforms including MLS NEXT, MLS NEXT Tier 2, Girls Academy (GA), Southeastern Clubs Champions League (SCCL), and the Alabama Soccer Association (ASA).
A Complete Pathway from Youth to Elite Competition
HVS has structured comprehensive development pathways that challenge players to grow technically, tactically, and mentally — on and off the field. The boys’ program features participation in MLS NEXT, MLS NEXT Tier 2, SCCL, and ASA, offering elite competition and exposure opportunities at regional and national events.
Meanwhile, the girls’ program is built around the Girls Academy, one of the most respected youth leagues in the country, with additional competition provided through SCCL and ASA platforms. This environment emphasizes player development, college visibility, and leadership growth.
“Our philosophy at HVS is built on teamwork, respect, and long-term player development — helping every athlete grow both on and off the field,” the club’s mission states.
Leadership and Growth
The club recently announced the appointment of Mike Keeney as MLS NEXT Director, a move that strengthens HVS’s leadership and enhances its pathway for elite boys’ development — a key step in elevating the organization’s presence within national youth soccer circles.
In addition to coaching excellence, HVS supports its players with community partnerships, advanced training tools, and competitive events such as MLS NEXT Fest and college scout showcases, helping position athletes for opportunities beyond youth soccer.
Training Environments and Facilities
HVS athletes train and compete at several high-quality facilities in the Birmingham/Hoover area, including the Hoover Met Turf Complex and Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex (SHAC) — locations known for their excellent playing surfaces and supportive atmospheres for both development and competitive matches.
Looking Ahead
With ongoing commitment to elite training, leadership development, and competitive excellence, Hoover-Vestavia Soccer stands out as a model youth club in the Southeast. As tryouts and the next competitive season approach, the club remains focused on preparing players for the next level — whether that’s college soccer, professional pathways, or lifelong success through the game.
