YOUTH-CLUB SOCCER: Michigan Thundercats Soccer Club accepts invite to compete in the Elite Academy League

THORTON, Colo. – The Elite Academy League announced Tuesday that it has accepted the Michigan Thundercats Soccer Club for the 2025-26 season.
The Michigan Thundercats SC will play in the Elite Academy League-Mid America East Division.
“We are excited that the Thundercats SC has been accepted into the Elite Academy League. This is a huge step forward for our club, providing top-level competition for our club, elite development, and greater exposure for our players,” said Thundercats SC Director of Coaching Lance Whitney. “We remained dedicated to our family-oriented culture while creating a clear pathway for our boys to reach the next level, including college recruitment and showcase opportunities. We can’t wait to get started.”
The Michigan Thundercats SC are located out of Ira Township just north of New Baltimore, Michigan and mainly services north Macomb County, the St. Clair County area and in the Port Huron, Mich., region.
The Elite Academy League, anchored in Thornton, Colorado, was formed in 2020 and enjoyed its first year of competition in the 2020-21 school year. The Elite Academy League is composed of member clubs that represent elite competitive clubs around the country and in their market and have shown to be of the standard and will benefit from being part of this platform. By unifying clubs from within the conferences, the EAL has maintained the defining standards of previous elite platforms with a collective approach to making sure the platform sits atop of the youth landscape.
The Elite Academy League will have an affiliation with the MLS NEXT New Tier, which will feature over 220 clubs around the country and take effect at the 2025-26 school year.
