FORT WORTH, Texas – There are still a multitude of unbeaten teams in the Women’s Premier Soccer League Count Austin Rise FC amongst that group.

The Rise maintained its position atop the Lone Stat Conference Sunday with a 3-0 shutout of host Fort Worth Vaqueras at W.O. Barnes Stadium.

Ranked 15th in the WPSL polls Jane 3, the Austin Rise have not tasted defeat after five conference games, moving to 4-0-1 with the team’s third shutout in five starts. Austin Rise FC has outscored its opposition 10-2 for a plus-8 in the scoring column and have earned 13 points to lead the conference.

Against Fort Worth, Peyton Urban earned another clean sheet on six saves behind a stout back line.

Meanwhile, the offense scored in stoppage time right before the end of the first half and added two more second half goals to pull away. It marked the second time the side had defeated Fort Worth this season, also blanking the Vasqueras 2-0 a couple of weeks ago.

This time around, Katie Gernsbacher scored two minutes into stoppage time for the 1-0 lead at the half. It proved to be the eventual game-winner.

It wasn’t until the 62nd minute when Martiva Fefilova booted home a cross from Gernsbacher in the 62nd minute, while Gernsbacher earned the brace when she capped the scoring with a late 88th minute goal.

It has been a season of struggles thus far for Fort Worth, which has been outscored 20-1 this season and dropped to 0-4-1.

The Austin Rise FC steps back into action on June 11 when it pays a visit to Corinthians FC of San Antonio at House Park for another Lone Star Conference matchup.
