Western Michigan Picked as 2025 MAC Women’s Soccer Favorite

CLEVELAND – Western Michigan has been selected as the preseason favorite to capture both the Mid-American Conference women’s soccer regular season and tournament titles in 2025, according to a vote of the league’s head coaches. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams.
The defending MAC regular season and tournament champions earned 135 points and eight first-place votes, along with eight selections to repeat as tournament champions.
Buffalo was picked second with 128 points, receiving four first-place votes and four nods to win the tournament. Ohio came in third with 123 points, followed by UMass in fourth with 114 points, one first-place vote and one selection to win the championship.
For the first time in league history, the MAC Women’s Soccer Championship will be held at a neutral site. Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, will host the tournament in 2025 and 2026.
This year’s tournament begins Saturday, Nov. 1, with two quarterfinal matches. Semifinals are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 4, and the championship match will be played Friday, Nov. 7.
Quarterfinal and semifinal matches will kick off at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. ET, with the championship set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
