Week 6 MIHSSCA Rankings: New Faces and Shifting Momentum Across All Divisions

(Shelby Twp., MI) – The Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association (MIHSSCA) Week 6 boys soccer rankings are out, and while several unbeaten programs continue to hold firm, the week-to-week shifts across all four divisions reflect just how competitive this fall season has become.

Division 1: Portage Central Still Perfect, Heritage Breaks Through

Top-ranked Portage Central (16-0-2) and Ann Arbor Huron (11-0-2) remain unbeaten and secure at Nos. 1 and 2, while Clarkston (14-1-0) and Okemos (13-1-1) round out a steady Top 4.

The shakeups begin below the top. Grand Haven (11-1-2) and West Ottawa (10-1-3) each climbed one spot, while Hartland (16-1-1) slipped from No. 5 to No. 8 after suffering its first loss.

Troy (7-3-0) jumped into the Top 10 from Honorable Mention, and Saginaw Heritage (18-1-0) earned its first ranking of the year, landing at No. 15. Dropping out were Royal Oak and Troy Athens, the latter sliding to HM.

Division 2: Forest Hills Central Unbeaten, New Boston Huron Rising

Forest Hills Central (15-0-3) continues to set the pace, still unbeaten at No. 1. Hudsonville Unity Christian (10-0-4) holds firm at No. 2, but the big mover is New Boston Huron (13-1-2), climbing into the Top 3 after a strong week.

Cranbrook Kingswood (10-1-0) edged up to No. 4, while Warren DeLaSalle (14-4-0) slipped to No. 5.

Mid-table movement was heavy: Fruitport (12-3-3) leaped from No. 12 to No. 8, and Melvindale (12-2-1) surged into the Top 10 at No. 9. Grand Rapids South Christian (11-3-1) rejoined the rankings at No. 10, while Lansing Eastern (9-2-3) and Marquette (15-3-2) both moved in at Nos. 12 and 13.

Exiting the Top 15 were Allendale, Dearborn Divine Child, and Holland, with Coldwater and Ortonville Brandon joining the HM list.

Division 3: Country Day Holds, Greenhills Climbs

There was no drama at the top, where Detroit Country Day (15-1-1), Pontiac Notre Dame Prep (10-1-5), and Elk Rapids (11-2-3) kept their grip on the top three spots.

Ann Arbor Greenhills (7-3-1) jumped from No. 5 to No. 4, pushing Flint Powers Catholic (10-6-2) down to No. 5.

Other risers included Paw Paw (10-5-1), Alma (11-5-1), and Grand Rapids Catholic Central (5-4-4), all nudging up one spot apiece. Frankenmuth (10-4-0) dipped to No. 11, while Freeland (10-6-0) rounded out the Top 15.

Notably, the Top 15 featured the exact same schools as last week, though unbeaten Fremont (14-0-2) continues to lurk in Honorable Mention and looks poised for a breakthrough.

Division 4: Liggett Leads, Clinton Makes Its Move

University Liggett (12-0-0) kept its stranglehold on the top spot, still unbeaten through 12 matches. The real story came from the chasing pack: North Muskegon (9-1-3) jumped from No. 4 to No. 2, while Grandville Calvin Christian (13-3-2) rose to No. 3.

Royal Oak Shrine Catholic (16-1-0) climbed into the Top 5, and Kalamazoo Christian (10-3-1) made a notable jump from No. 12 to No. 10.

The bottom of the table saw a shakeup as well, with Clinton (15-0-1) entering the rankings for the first time this season at No. 15, unbeaten and surging. Allen Park Inner-City Baptist (9-2-4) also climbed back into the poll at No. 12.

Dropping out were Wyoming Potter’s House Christian and Hillsdale Academy, both sliding to HM. Byron Center Zion Christian also joined the HM list.

The Big Picture

  • Unbeatens Holding Strong: Portage Central, Ann Arbor Huron, Forest Hills Central, Unity Christian, Liggett, Clinton, and Fremont all remain undefeated.

  • Biggest Climbers: New Boston Huron (D2), Fruitport (D2), North Muskegon (D4), Shrine Catholic (D4), and Saginaw Heritage (D1).

  • New Entrants: Clinton (D4), Allen Park Inner-City Baptist (D4), Troy (D1), Grand Rapids South Christian (D2), Lansing Eastern (D2), and Marquette (D2).

  • Teams Dropping Out: Royal Oak (D1), Troy Athens (D1), Holland Christian (D2), Dearborn Divine Child (D2), Potter’s House Christian (D4), Hillsdale Academy (D4).

📊 With just weeks remaining before the postseason, the Top 15 continues to evolve each week — and the list of unbeaten programs continues to shrink, raising the stakes across all four divisions.
