CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The University of Virginia women’s soccer team climbed to No. 1 in this week’s United Soccer Coaches Top 25 rankings, riding a 7-0-1 start to the season that includes wins over three ranked opponents.

The Cavaliers jumped four spots to take over the top position, overtaking previous No. 1 Tennessee, which dropped to No. 5 after a 1–1 draw last week.

Stanford moved up to No. 2 following a 7-1-1 start to the year, while Duke dropped one spot to No. 3 after suffering its first loss. UCLA and Notre Dame rounded out the top six, with the Bruins holding firm at No. 4 and the Fighting Irish staying put at No. 6.

Mississippi State, Wake Forest move up

Xavier (No. 23) and Rice (No. 25) each entered the rankings for the first time this season.

Memphis (No. 9) and Brigham Young (No. 10) both moved into the top 10. Memphis remained unbeaten at 7-0-1, while BYU earned 123 points in the poll to tie with Arkansas, which dropped one spot to No. 10.

Georgetown, Oklahoma slide

Georgetown dropped four spots to No. 20 after falling to Connecticut over the weekend, while Oklahoma slipped to No. 24 despite a 7-1-1 record. Vanderbilt (No. 17) and North Carolina (No. 18) also fell slightly in this week’s rankings.
