EAST RIDGE, TN --- The Chattanooga Red Wolves SC of USL League One announced on Friday the signing of veteran midfielder Angelo Kelly-Rosales.
The 33 year-old is a short-term recruit, for now, after agreeing to a 25 day contract. The Red Wolves are currently short on experience and manpower in central midfield with club captain Ualefi out for the season.
Honduran-born Kelly-Rosales, who grew up in Iowa, brings considerable experience to the thin Red Wolves’ middle line. He has 78 appearances in League One alone, after spending three seasons with One Knoxville. With Knox, he won both the USL League One regular season and Cup last year. Prior to that he’d spent a year with Pittsburgh Riverhounds (27 appearances) and four seasons with Charleston Battery (97 appearances) in the USL Championship. Before turning professional, Kelly-Rosales spent time in USL League Two with Thunder Bay Chill, Odessa/Midland Sockers (now West Texas FC) and Mississippi Brilla. He most recently lined out for Asheville City in this year’s US Open Cup, playing in their second round draw with old club One Knoxville.
The move represents an important opportunity for the Kelly-Rosales. He had been slated to play for South Georgia Tormenta this season after signing for them in January. However, only a month-and-a-half later, Tormenta announced that it would not field a professional team for the 2026 season. The controversial decision was made less than two weeks before league play was scheduled to begin, with the USLPA noting the uncertainty it caused for players. There are about nine ex-members of the side that are still without a professional contract as of May 1.
"Angelo is a great addition for our squad. Without a doubt a top top player in our league, his experience and leadership will be invaluable in the short term with the loss of some key veterans from our group," said Head Coach and Technical Director Scott Mackenzie. "I am excited to work with him and for him to get to know the Red Wolves fan base."
The William Penn graduate is expected to be available for the Red Wolves for their game at AC Boise this weekend.
