HAMTRAMCK, Mich. – Detroit City FC kept pace in the USL W League Great Lakes Division Thursday with a 2-0 shutout of visiting Toledo Villa.

The Le Rouge walked out of Keyworth Stadium with a 6-2-1 record in the division for 19 points and sit second place in the division. AFC Ann Arbor (6-1-2) leads the table with 20 points.

Detroit City FC struck early and never looked back, with forward Nina Ferraro opening the scoring in the 14th minute. Hogan found space at the top of the box and rifled a low shot past the Villa goalkeeper to give Detroit City the lead.

Despite heavy pressure throughout the first half, Toledo Villa managed to keep the deficit at one going into the break. But Detroit City FC doubled its advantage in the 61st minute when Mary Karolak slotted home her third goal of the season.

Detroit City's defense remained organized and composed, limiting Toledo Villa to just two shots on target.

Goalkeeper Charlotte Huggard recorded the clean sheet – Detroit City's sixth of the campaign. The Le Rouge have outscored the opposition 16-5 this season but unfortunately for DCFC four of those five goals conceded were to league-leader AFC Ann Arbor in a pair of 2-1 losses.

Toledo Villa FC falls to 1-7-1 and in sixth in the division with four points.
