KENTWOOD, Mich. – Jonathan Stout waited until the final minutes to deliver.
That's to deliver a game-winning goal.
The Western Michigan University transfer, who spent the last couple of years at Michigan State University, booted home the game-winning goal in the 89th minute as host Midwest United FC captured its first USL League Two-Great Lakes Division victory of the 2025 season with a 2-1 victory over Lansing City Football.
It marked Stout’s first game-winning goal since last fall during the college season and it gave Midwest United (1-2-0) its first three points in the eight-team Great Lakes Division.
Ricardo Rittersberger-Galan gave Midwest United its 1-0 lead thanks to a goal in the 11th minute.
The advantage stood until late in the first half when Lansing City netted an equalizer off the foot of Samuel Dolobaipu.
Stout came through in the clutch in the waning minutes.
Taariq Gagna recorded five saves to earn the win in goal for Midwest United FC, which has been outscored 5-3 after three games this season.
Winless Lansing City Football (0-3-0) has been outscored 6-2 in three matches this season.
