KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Despite a dominant statistical performance and a barrage of second-half opportunities, One Knoxville SC was forced to settle for a single point on Tuesday night, playing to a 0-0 draw against a resolute Corpus Christi FC at Covenant Health Park.

The result moves One Knox to four points on the young USL League One season, but the club remains in search of its first home victory of 2026. For Head Coach Ian Fuller, the inability to break down a defensive "low block" proved to be a source of significant frustration.

"We’re disappointed because we have to be able to get three points in a match like that," Fuller said. "Scoring goals is the hardest part of the game... I don’t think we were nearly at our best and in order to get points at home you have to make it happen."

Dominance Without the Breakthrough

One Knoxville controlled nearly every facet of the match, finishing with 61.3% possession and outshooting the visitors 18 to 4. While One Knox lived in the final third—recording 25 touches in the opposing penalty area compared to just eight for Corpus Christi—the finishing touch remained elusive.

Corpus Christi FC opted for a disciplined defensive approach, sitting numbers behind the ball to stifle Knoxville’s creative engines.

"We know we’re going to face that at home for sure," Fuller noted. "I thought we had enough space to play in. We showed that we could get into the final third, but our creativity there was next to none."

Talbot Stands Tall

The second half saw Knoxville dial up the pressure, forcing Corpus Christi goalkeeper James Talbot into several world-class saves. In the 49th minute, Talbot produced a diving stop to deny Mikkel Gøling from point-blank range following a Stavros Zarokostas cross. Seven minutes later, he came up big again, parrying a low, darting effort from forward Eli Conway.

English midfielder Teddy Baker nearly broke the deadlock twice in a three-minute span mid-way through the half. His bending effort in the 66th minute beat a diving Talbot but whistled just wide of the post; moments later, he was sprung free in the box only to see his shot to the far post miss the target.

Defensive Stability

On the opposite end, One Knox goalkeeper Johan Garibay had a relatively quiet night, securing his first clean sheet of the season. His only save of the match didn't come until the 87th minute, a testament to the work done by the backline of Tiao, Skelton, and McRobb in snuffing out rare Corpus Christi counters.

The physical nature of the contest resulted in seven yellow cards, including a caution for Coach Fuller in first-half stoppage time.

Quick Turnaround: Richmond and Open Cup Loom

One Knoxville does not have long to dwell on the draw. The squad returns to Covenant Health Park this Friday, March 27, to host the Richmond Kickers at 7:00 p.m. ET.

"Richmond took quite a few points off us last year, so we’ve got an axe to grind with that," Fuller added. "Right now, we’ve got to fix some things."

Following the league clash, One Knox will travel across the border to face Asheville City SC on Tuesday in a highly anticipated Second Round matchup of the 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

One Knoxville Lineup: Garibay; Tiao, Skelton, McRobb, Brown; Caputo, Murphy Jr. (Baker 60'), Gøling, Zarokostas (Perkins 83'); Conway (Linhares 60'), Krioutchenkov (Diene 60').
