CORAOPOLIS, Pa. (February 13, 2026) — The Pittsburgh Riverhounds remained unbeaten this preseason, earning a hard-fought 2-1 victory over fellow USL Championship side Loudoun United FC on the indoor field at the AHN Montour Sports Complex.
Trevor Amann opened his preseason account for the Hounds (3-0-0), and a second-half own goal proved to be the difference. Arquimides Ordóñez scored Loudoun’s lone goal — the first conceded by Pittsburgh this preseason.
Both teams focused on possession in the early stages, with limited scoring chances until the Hounds broke through in the 24th minute. A turnover deep in Loudoun’s defensive half allowed Jorge Garcia to drive into the right side of the penalty area. As defenders scrambled to recover, Garcia slid a low cross through the box to Amann, who calmly finished into an open net for the 1-0 lead.
Garcia nearly doubled the advantage just past the half-hour mark, unleashing a powerful strike from distance that forced a strong save from Loudoun goalkeeper Adam Beaudry. Amann also threatened for a second goal late in the half, but Pittsburgh carried a 1-0 lead into the break.
Loudoun equalized four minutes into the second half. Jack Panayotou turned the corner along the goal line and cut into the right side of the box before finding Ordóñez arriving late at the top of the six-yard area. The Guatemalan international lifted a shot under the crossbar to level the match at 1-1 in the 49th minute.
The Hounds responded in the 66th minute. Eliot Goldthorp delivered a driven cross from the left side into the penalty area, where Albert Dikwa and Brigham Larsen made attacking runs. A Loudoun defender, attempting to clear, instead redirected the ball into his own net to restore Pittsburgh’s lead at 2-1.
Dikwa nearly added insurance after drawing a foul on an earlier breakaway. Getting behind the defense again, he attempted to chip the goalkeeper from just outside the box, but his effort glanced off the top of the crossbar and out of play.
Pittsburgh once again made full use of its depth, with 16 of 18 signed players seeing action, along with seven non-roster trialists.
What’s Next? The Riverhounds will face their first collegiate opponent of the preseason when Duquesne University travels across the Monongahela River for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at Highmark Stadium.
