Flint, Mich. — The Flint City Bucks have added a dynamic young talent to their squad, signing prolific striker Sean Albritton for the upcoming Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and USL League Two season, pending league and federation approval.
Albritton is expected to be part of the 18-man roster for Flint City’s first-round U.S. Open Cup matchup against Forward Madison FC. The Bucks will open the 111th edition of the historic tournament at 6:30 p.m. on
Thursday, March 19, at Don Batchelor Stadium in downtown Grand Blanc.
The Fairfield University freshman made an immediate impact during the fall collegiate season, earning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Second Team honors. He was also named to the Top Drawer Soccer Freshman Best XI and ranked No. 12 nationally among freshmen (fourth among forwards) in Top Drawer Soccer’s nationwide rankings.
Despite logging just 738 minutes, Albritton led Fairfield (8-5-5) with nine goals, including four game-winners, appearing in 14 matches with 12 starts. The 18-year-old averaged one goal every 82 minutes, the fastest scoring rate among freshmen with as many goals last season. For comparison, NCAA MAC Hermann Trophy winner Donavan Phillip averaged one goal every 78 minutes.

Internationally, Albritton has already gained valuable experience with Costa Rica’s national teams. In 2023, he scored twice for the U-17 squad as Los Ticos won their group at the CONCACAF U-17 Championship, which served as qualification for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia. He later joined Costa Rica’s senior national team as a training player during the 2024 Copa América and is currently an active member of the country’s U-20 men’s national team.
Before beginning his collegiate career, the Pflugerville, Texas native developed in the Austin FC MLS Academy system. He also spent time with Dallas Texans (ECNL) and Real Salt Lake (MLS NEXT). At the 2025 Generation adidas Cup, Albritton scored six of Austin FC U-18’s eight total goals, tying for the most goals across all divisions in the tournament.
With proven scoring ability at the collegiate, academy, and international levels, Albritton adds firepower to a Flint City Bucks side looking to make a strong run in both Open Cup play and the upcoming USL League Two campaign.
