The US Men’s Senior National Team (Over 40) squad has earned Third Place at the 2026 Senior World Cup played in Thailand June 1-7.

The US Men defeated Taiwan 2-0 in their opening match before defeating Thailand 1-0 in their second match of group play to set up a massive meeting with the England Senior National Team. Ryan Miles and Tim Blodgett scored the goals in the match versus Taiwan, while Jeremy Moore provided the lone goal of the match in the win over the hosts Thailand. England also won their first two matches of the group stage and set up a massive match to decide the group winner on match day three.

Almost all the other teams at this event have funding and support from their national federations, but the USMSNT is a self-funded, parallel program operating outside of the US Soccer Federation umbrella representing the Stars and Stripes on an international stage.

The English team was dotted with former professional players like Ian Cox, Kevin Ellison, Barry Hayles, Lee Hendrie, and Gareth Barry. Hendrie played 14 seasons for Aston Villa making over 250 EPL appearances while EPL legend Gareth Barry played over 650 EPL matches for the likes of Aston Villa, Manchester City, Everton, and West Brom. Barry also has 53 England caps to his name, including the Euro 2000 and FIFA World Cup 2010 on his resume. So the upcoming match was a bit of David versus Goliath.

The US Men fell 0-3 to the heavily favored England squad to wrap up group play, but finished second in the group and advanced to the semifinals on June 5. Defender Lucas Tickner was the MVP of the Match versus England.

In the semifinals, the team would meet France and just fall short of the final in a penalty shootout, dropping the US squad into the Third-Place match versus Australia. The US men would rebound from the setbacks versus England and France in the Third-Place match to earn a 3-0 win over Australia to secure the Bronze medal. Jack Pocorobba, Patrick Crawford, and Carlos Perez scored the goals for the US as they finished an amazing run at the 2026 Senior World Cup. Jack Pocorobba was named player of the match for his outstanding midfield performance.

The closing ceremonies wrapped up the trip to Thailand and the US Men’s Senior National Team made their way back to the States with silverware in hand. Could the Senior National Team success be a foreshadow of the success the US National Team will hopefully continue to see at the 2026 FIFA World Cup? Only time and the results on the field will tell…
