Match: Chattanooga Red Wolves SC II vs. Scenic City SC

UPSL Premier Division Georgia North

Date: Friday, May 22nd, 2026. 19:00 (Eastern)

Venue: Camp Jordan | Chattanooga, TN

CHATTANOOGA, TN --- The Chattanooga Red Wolves II plays host to local rivals Scenic City SC on Friday (May 22nd, 7pm ET) in a huge clash at the summit of the UPSL Premier Division Georgia North. There’s all to play for as titles and playoff spots are up for grabs.

These two sides met on April 29 when the Red Wolves won 1-0 after a controversial penalty call. Promising midfielder Nathan Donoho scored the winner from the spot. It was a tough result for Scenic City after an even battle and who came into that game six points and three places above the Red Wolves, but things have changed since then.

The Red Wolves II (P:8 W:6 D:0 L:2 GF:19 GA:10 GD:+9 Pts:18) are on a five-game winning streak, including that victory over Scenic City, stretching back to April 26. Over those five games they’ve notched 15 goals, conceding only three. This has propelled them to the top of the division with two games to go, a point ahead of LSA Mustangs in second.

Scenic City (P:8 W:5 D:1 L:2 GF:19 GA:12 GD:+7 Pts:16) continues to look like one of the strongest and most consistent sides in the division, but last weekend they dropped points when they could only draw away to bottom-side Atlanta Fire. Scenic City is in third place, two points behind the Red Wolves, one behind LSA Mustangs, and just two ahead of Georgia Impact who sit fourth. The match takes place at Chattanooga’s storied Camp Jordan soccer complex and kicks off at 7pm Eastern. We’re to expect temperatures in the low 70s with rain persistent all afternoon in the build-up.

The Red Wolves’ most recent outing saw them defeat 2025 heavyweights Potros FC at home. The 2-0 win came courtesy of goals from Robert Lee and Nathan Donoho. The latter is their top scorer with five (5) goals on the season so far. Donoho has also spent considerable time with the Red Wolves’ senior side in USL League One, earning his debut in the USL Cup earlier in the season. Midfielder Tristan Torres and goalkeeper Austin Montoya have also trained with the senior team and Montoya was on the bench for their recent game against Birmingham Legion. Behind Donoho in the scorers chart are Lee with four goals and Caden Macias and Frank Herrera with two a-piece. The Red Wolves are coached by Australian Greg Warden. Warden joined the organization last December and comes with experience at Nashville SC, San Diego Wave, ALBION San Diego, and Tennessee SC.

While he mainly speaks about the growth and development of his players, I am sure Scenic City Head Coach Josh Luff will be as keen as anyone for a win on Friday to propel his side into the driver's seat in Georgia North. This is an opportunity to do so, especially as the Mustangs don’t play until May 31.

It's incredible that Scenic City are even in this position, competing for a Premier Division title, given they were playing in the First Division this time last year. Their First Division crowning was followed by a good Fall season and a successful Chattanooga Challenge campaign as this club continues to build.

Last weekend, Scenic City were held to a 2-2 draw at Atlanta Fire, with Stone Davies and Clay Gallant the scorers. Brothers Jack and Sam Conrad lead the scoring charts for the team with five and four goals respectively. Midfielder Marcus Odeny has four goals also, while Davies has three.

Analysis and Prediction:

This is going to be an intense battle, possibly in the rain, between two evenly matched sides. In fact, Scenic City’s tie at Atlanta Fire is the only thing that separates their record from the Red Wolves. They’ve each lost two of their eight games, but the Red Wolves have won six to Scenic City’s five. They’ve scored the same amount of goals, but Scenic City have conceded two more. As such, it's very hard to pick a winner here given their balanced records, the potential for inclement weather, and the fact that with them being from close quarters, home field advantage and support may be nullified. It promises to be a cracker!
