Former UPSL California standout and LAFC Academy product Pedro Guimaraes has taken the next step in his professional career, signing with Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.

Born in 2008 and regarded as one of California’s top young prospects, the left back holds dual American and Brazilian citizenship. He joins one of Germany’s premier clubs currently competing for UEFA Champions League qualification, marking a significant milestone early in his professional journey.

Guimaraes featured for LAFC Academy during the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 seasons in the UPSL SoCal Premier Division. LAFC Academy finished third in the SoCal North Division in Fall 2023 before earning a mid-table finish in Spring 2024. Competing in the UPSL at a young age provided Guimaraes with valuable experience against high-level semi-professional competition, helping him refine his technical ability and physical development.

Following his time in the UPSL, Guimaraes signed with Orange County SC of the USL Championship ahead of the 2024-25 season. He made his professional debut at just 16 years old in the second tier of U.S. soccer and has since totaled 31 competitive appearances, scoring four goals and adding one assist. His rapid development drew international interest, ultimately leading to the move to Frankfurt.

Eintracht Frankfurt Sporting Director Timmo Hardung praised the young defender’s potential.

“Pedro Guimaraes is a very exciting prospect at left back. We’ve been following his progress for a while now. In addition to strong technical ability, he has an outstanding understanding of the game for his age. We’re very pleased that he’s decided to join Eintracht Frankfurt and that he sees his future with us. We’ll give him the time he needs to get used to professional football in Germany and to develop with us step by step.” The club plans for Guimaraes to begin with the Under-21 squad as he prepares for potential first-team opportunities ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Internationally, Guimaraes has represented the United States at the youth level, earning 14 caps with the U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team. He most recently competed at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025.
