Toledo Standouts Morgan Spitler and Gabrielle Anulare Join Inside the Game
SHELBY TWP, Mich. – The National Soccer Network’s Inside the Game welcomes two emerging stars from the University of Toledo women’s soccer program as special guests today: sophomore midfielder Morgan Spitler and freshman midfielder Gabrielle Anulare. Both have already made their mark in the Rockets’ lineup and represent the program’s bright future.
Morgan Spitler – Growing Into a Key Role
Spitler, a sophomore from Ohio, played in all 18 matches during the 2024 season, earning 10 starts and logging over 816 minutes on the pitch. She scored her first career goal against Loyola Chicago on Sept. 5 and later added an assist against Ohio Dominican. Known for her work rate and composure in midfield, Spitler recorded nine shots, including four on target, and played a season-high 76 minutes in that Loyola contest. Before arriving at Toledo, Spitler earned All-GWOC honors and ECNL All-Conference recognition while playing for Ohio Elite. Coming from a strong soccer family—her sister Chloe plays at the University of Cincinnati—Spitler is continuing that tradition with the Rockets while pursuing a degree in occupational therapy.
Gabrielle Anulare – Making an Instant Impact
Anulare burst onto the scene in 2024, starting all 18 matches and earning MAC All-Freshman Team honors. She led the team with 1,545 minutes played, anchoring the midfield and rarely leaving the pitch, especially in conference play where she was ever-present. Her collegiate career began with a statement, scoring twice in the season opener against Cincinnati on Aug. 18. She went on to play all 90 minutes in 14 matches, showcasing durability and consistency well beyond her years.A standout at Anchor Bay High School, Anulare helped her team capture three district titles, an Elite 8 appearance, and a MAC Red Championship. She also excelled at the club level with Liverpool IA Michigan, where she was a captain and MVP. At Toledo, she is pursuing a business degree and credits the Rockets’ coaching staff and campus atmosphere for her decision to join the program.
Spotlight on the Future
Together, Spitler and Anulare embody the balance of development and immediate contribution that Toledo continues to build. Spitler’s growing influence in her second season pairs with Anulare’s impressive debut campaign, giving the Rockets a midfield core to rely on in the seasons ahead.
